In Mirage system following technologies are used:
Terminal Access to Applications
In Mirage system all user's applications are hosted and executed on the Terminal Server.
But users still work on their local Terminals.
The work on a Terminal is actually similar to the work on usual PC.
Restricted Software Environment
Mirage system provides restricted software environment for every user.
This means that a user can see and execute only legal applications.
We follow the princip "What is not allowed - That is prohibited".
Therefor a user will fail to bypass the protection system and execute restricted program.
Separated File System
Mirage system uses an isolated file system for every user.
This is based on unique Linux feature. It allows to dynamically set
a new file system root directory for a session.
Whereupon the session and all of it's applications will fail to
access files located up to the new root directory.
The session wont even determine that it had been restricted!
For document exchanging with other users one can set up a special shared folders.
Input/Output Control
Input and output of information is only allowed on servers in Mirage system.
The system supports input and output of:
files on external device media
documents on printer
Of course, printing could be done from a terminal.
But the system can perform auto marking of hard-copies,
noting member name, printing date and so on.
Besides, a user can not uncontrolledly take off data on external device media.
He has to walk up to a server to seize media.
Protected Database Server
An information about all personnel and terminals is centralized and stored on server -
in the special service database.
This approach lets You loose to build distributed system of any level of complexity,
using several Terminal Servers with common security policy.
Localization
Mirage system is currently being localized from russian to an english variant.
In future the new languages support will appear as necessary.
