2004 December New version

We have completed the new version. Multiple authorisation schemes appeared with the help of fingerprints. Administration utilities have been changed accordingly.

Besides the division of users into several categories has been implemented:

  • security administrator
  • system administrator
  • custom user
This allows to differentiate administration rights in detail.

2004 November Bio-identification

BioLink company has developed fingerprint authentication modules for our system. After implementation of these functions into the project, users would be able to log in system by merely putting their fingers to mouse.

2004 October Project Web-Site

Finally, we have created the project site!

2004 September Official Project Registration

We have completed the procedure of official registration of our project.

CERTIFICATE #2004612164
of official registration for computer program
Terminal Computing System "Mirage"
Date of registration: September 23, year 2004.

Here You can see the scanned version of document.

2004 July Database Server Linter

We have signed a partnership agreement with Relex company - the creator of protected database server Linter.

2004 July Bio-identification

We have concluded a treaty with the developer company to create authentication modules for fingerprints. It is BioLink - the well known vendor of authentication products and software development kits for biometric systems.

2004 June Documentation

We have completed the user's set of documentation:

  • System Architecture
  • Administrator's Guide Book
  • User's Guide Book (incompletely)

We have also to write the design documentation - for the later certification of system.

2004 May Terminals

We are obliged to search for a different company to purchase terminals, because K-Systems refused to perform the order when it has been matured.

Natheless we have managed to order and recieve terminals with Nienschanz company. They sell similar terminals based on particular motherboards.

2004 April Beta-version

We have the second version of project - the beta-version. The system is more functional: users do can authorise (still using login and password), terminals do can boot over a network. New features: the printing support appeared, including "hardcopies marking", print register and so on. The set of administration utilities is also enhanced.

Further plans are the system revision, improvement and documentation.

2004 January Terminals

We are searching for a company, that can supply "terminals". A terminal - is just a usual computer yet of a small size. It does not even have CD-ROM nor floppy-drive, while a little flash-disk substitutes standart hard-drive. It has also lack of a cooler-fan. But the absence of any moving parts is also the advantage that makes them considered to be safe.

Of course this is not necessary - we could use a simple computer. But less and compact terminals give much more positive impression during a demonstratation of the system.

Currently we've got preliminary arrangement with K-Systems.

2003 December Alpha-version

We've got the first version of project - the alpha-version. The system is functional: users do can authorise (yet by login and password), terminals do can boot over a network. There are also some minimal graphic administration utilities.

We can see the end of work, but it is still a long way off!

2003 November Bio-identification

We are searching for a software development company, that would be able to create for us modules for user's authentication by fingerprints.

Of course, we could develop it by ourselves - but it will take a lot of time while the quality would be unsatisfactory. It is possible to get students to participate in project, but the quality would still remain poor. And there is no much trust in students. So it is decided to order authentication modules to a development company.

Currently - we've got only few variants...

2003 August Beginning of development process

The project plan has been created, programmers have been full-staffed. So the development process begins.

Our goal is to create alpha-version at the end of year!

2003 April Testing of LTSP is completed

We have built the test-system with one server and two terminals. Then we've been testing it for over a week. It was fairly easy to setup test-system and install all program services - thanks for the full and structured documentation. But we have disclosed some principal shortcomings. Please, read FAQ for details.

2003 March Idea!

We've decided to create the system. Details are not clear yet. But global principles have been already defined:

  • the system will work under OS Linux
  • users will be authorized using biometric parameters
  • the system will use database based on the secure database server Linter
  • an information will be protected by means of a terminal access technology
